Industry is the leading economy sector of the Republic of Crimea. Its share in the Gross Regional Product reaches almost 18%, and industrial enterprises in the region employ more than 65 thousand people. The average annual growth of the industry is 8.5%. There are more than 2,300 large, medium and small enterprises operating in the region. Most of them are concentrated in the Central part of the republic and in the cities of Northern and Western Crimea. Key sub-sectors: chemical industry, food industry, mechanical engineering, shipbuilding, production and distribution of electricity, gas and water. Among the largest chemical enterprises in the region should be identified "Crimean soda plant", "Brom", "Krymplast", "Crimean Titan".
Production of electrical and electronic equipment, radio and television sets, communications, optical and navigation devices – the main directions of machine-building enterprises of the republic. The largest of them are "Fiolent" plant and «Selma Firm" electric machine-building plant, with more than 50 enterprises operating in the industry. "Zaliv" and "More" shipbuilding plants are the largest enterprises in this area. The republic's shipbuilding industry is known for the production of supertankers, frigates, hovercrafts, transport vessels and ship repair services.
In recent years, the Republic of Crimea has significantly expanded the range of construction products. The development of construction is a guaranteed market for manufacturers of building materials, which makes this area attractive for investment. Two industrial parks are also being created in the Crimea to improve investment climate in the industrial investment sector: "Bakhchisaray" and "Feodosia".
In 2017, State support amounting to more than 51 million rubles was transferred to 11 industrial enterprises, which allowed to modernize and improve the competitive position of the Crimean producers.
Since 2018, the republic has been implementing the state programme "Development of the industrial complex for 2018-2020". In the Republic of Crimea, 300 projects are being implemented in the construction sector, with over 80 billion rubles invested in them. In a short time, two major facilities were built – "Crimean bridge" and "Simferopol international airport".
